Question Laser Hair Removal

I am determined to get the hair on my upper lip zapped and there is a place near by where I live that is have a sale. $199 for six treatments on one small area... Is this a good deal? I want to make sure that I've done all the research on this before I make the purchase.

Hi I live in the UK and recently went for a consultation for laser hair removal. I was quoted £50 per treatment - for the chin area (about $100) and told that people generally need at least six for permanent hair removal. Apart from the price, I decided not to go ahead, because my hair is very fair - apparently the success rate is very low (laser hair removal works best on dark hair) and also, you mustn't have a tan or have used tanning products for at least two months prior to treatment because apparently it can burn the follicles and cause permanent damage to the skin. I'm already tanned and regularly top up with fake tan - so it would take several months of covering up before I could have the treatment anyway.

If anyone has any other ideas for removing annoying chin hairs, apart from plucking and hair removal creams - I would be estactic to know!!!

Re: Laser Hair Removal

Someone was mentioning a prescription product called Vaniqa at another forum the other day. It slows the regrowth of hair but you have to use it daily. She was saying that you just put a small amount on like using a lotion. It works the best if you use it after you wax or tweeze. She said that she tried using it on a spot that was "hairy" and it did not make the hair thinner but it did work for her to greatly reduce the hair growing back. She said that she was having to shave it every day but now there are just a few hairs growing back here and there! I say that's worth checking out!

Re: Laser Hair Removal

Hi: I tried Vaniqa, and it did work, but it took a while before you noticed it. It's a prescription lotion, and very expensive, so I stopped using it because of the price since my insurance wouldn't pay for it anyway. You could try it and see what you think. Just give it some time, a couple of weeks at least before you noticed the hair slowing in growth. I think if I had continued with it, it would have stopped growing, but I just couldn't afford it anymore. That was several years ago, so maybe they have lowered the price or have it in generic.

Good Luck...
