Otho Cept and Hair Loss

While I was taking Loestrin Fe 24 I learned that BCP can cause hair loss. I had lost hair while on Desogen. I could run my fingers through my hair and find loose hairs. Every night in the shower I'd find them too.

On Loestrin I had no hair loss. My hair is long so when I would vaccum at the end of each month I'd have to turn it over and clean the hair out from the wheels of the vaccum that got stuck. It's been a 9 days and now when I
run my hands through my hair I get alot of loose hairs. This is annoying.

I'm hoping that it's just the cycle of my hair. Hairs have a 5 year life span. I have to think it's not cause I am loosing them at the same time I switched my pills and for those 7 months I was on Loestrin I lost none.

BCP are so complex with the side effects.

If you didn't lose hair before taking the pill, and now you are, trust me, it's from the pill. I had alot, and I mean alot, of hair loss after starting Estrostep FE. When I quit taking it, the loss slowed way down. Look for a pill with a low androgencity index. You can do a search online for one.

Re: Otho Cept and Hair Loss

You're very welcome, Squeaky. I've been on my share of medications (birth control and others) over the years, with various unpleasant side effects. So, I have learned to research, research, research. Doctors often times don't give you a whole lot of information (in my experience, anyway), so sometimes you just have to be your own detective with these things.
