Pacemaker and ToprolXL ??

Went to the Cardiologist Dr yesterday for my yearly visit. I had mentioned last year my EF was @ 30% and he tried to talk me into a Pacemaker/Diff..
This years tests he said is slightly better , EF in the 30-35 range. He is still pushing the pacemaker. He keeps using the Dick Cheany comparison. I feel absolutely fine, I can walk forever, I am very active as long as my back doesn't give out and really feel fine. I eat all healthy foods no junk, grease or oily foods, chol. is nearly nom existant. Yet he insists I at least talk to the Dr's who inplant the pacemakers. Has anyone had a pace/diff. installed with these conditions? I am 45 and had a MI at 38.

Also I am taking 20 mg. of Accupril and 25mg. of Topral-XL, he also told me that to get any benifit from the Tropral it must be at least 200 mg. and even told me to go to their web-site to check out the studies. Is anyone here taken that high a dose?
Any experience or advice would be helpful, Thanks ?

Also, the last Cardio. I went to both believed that the EF from a Echo was not as accurate as when I had the NST. The EF with the NST was much higher. This Dr. says they use the echo to determine the EF. any opinions?
