If you pile a bunch of capsules, pills etc into yourself, they tend to "compete for absorbtion" amongst one another.
This is a principle well known to naturopaths and holistic practitioners. That is why if you are ever on multiple supplements for any reason , you will find that you get pretty specific instructions on what to take them with, and when, and which ones you should group together, which ones you shouldnt.
I took a page from this book and now take my meds early in the morning (I get up at 6:00am, so no problem there) and do not take any of my supplements for at least 2 hours afterward. Just started this, and I'm going to monitor to see how it works. The fact that you made the same adjustment and it appears to have worked should speak to this.
