Unhappy Depression / First month

I'm been on so many birth control pills and always has in the first month it was so extremely awful (depression that is) that I would have to stop it either at my period or mid pack. After starting Alesse I felt great, and then a week and a half before finishing the pack I started to feel very depressed. I'm irritable and I basically hate everyone. And I don't feel anything for my boyfriend who I'm going to be engaged to shortly (so definitely not of my own choice). How long should I wait to see if these symptoms go away? I've heard three months but is that two months and they should be gone by the third month or symptoms should be gone by the END of three months?

Has anyone had hard experiences with depression & anxiety while on birth control / Alesse? Is there any way to avoid this? I feel like the only person who can't use birth control, i hope it gets better after this month.

Re: Depression / First month

I took Aleese, Apri, Mircette, Desogen, Loestrin fe 24,and a brand in a peach pack that I started my first time and another after that one that I dont' remember what it was. I was 15 and I am 38 now.

It never had any problems with any pills until I turned 27 then I started getting the moods swings, anger, depression, etc. If each pill the length of time was different. I was on Loestrin for 7 month and just finished my 1st month of Ortho Cept the name brand for Desogen and have not a headache, mood swings, depression yet. The only thing I found was that I lost hair this month and when I was Lo I lost none. I lost hair on all the others but just thought it was normal and never questioned it till I joined here and found out that one of the side effects BCP has is loss of hair. It's not a crazy amount like 20 a day but I liked it better when I lost none.

I'd say by the end of your 3rd month you should get better ...with some people I've heard it take longer up to 6 months.

Re: Depression / First month

I have had MAJOR depression. To me, it's not worth it. We will find another way. I have been belligerent and crying at everything. I even looked in the mirror and started bawling because I had a zit! I feel crazy and out of control. I have been on Ortho-cept for 2 and half weeks. I am getting married in 3. I don't want to be depressed on my wedding day!!!
Besides depression, I have gotten acne, enlarged breasts, sick to my stomach, spotting, cramps, and fatigue. Maybe I am just super sensitive, but it is not for me.
