I then asked a friend of my husband, who is a retired O. surgeon what he would do and he said to just wait it out that they always "defrost".

boy is he wrong. always is a big word and it doesn't fit here.
my wife battled this for several years. Now, before anybody freaks out, she doesn;t tend to heal very well and what happened to her is not typical.
anyway, about 8 or 10 surgeries later, she finally won the frozen shoulder situation and she is great.
Now I had what I believe was the beginnings of frozen shoulder, I self manipulated it and worked through it without medical attention. The exercises I used were "hanging from a bar". I never dropped my weight hard or quickly but slowly allowed my weight to be held by my hands on the bar. When I first started, my shoulder would "pop" when raising it above my head. That eventually worked its way out. I continue to work it to prevent a recurrence.
