Help!

Hi guys,
I'm 24 and have had acne forever, but up until a year ago I was controlling it fairly well with Benzamycin Gel, which always seemed to work for me. Then the company that made it went insolvent and nothing else has seemed to work, I am currently on Duac gel which has helped a bit but not massively, and have just started taking Yasmin - does anyone know how long it takes to start having a positive effect?

The spots I get are not generally massive, but they are very red and leave red marks that take months to go, so my skin always looks bad even if I don't actually have loads of spots at the time. Benzamycin Gel seemed to sort that out! I am considering Microdermabrasion, has anyone found this useful? Also, is it true that Benzoyl Peroxide ages the skin?

I would be so grateful for any advice, thanks!

Re: Help!

How is your skin doing after beginning yasmin?

I was on ortho cyclen for four years with generally good skin. In September, I went off it and my skin has since just gotten worse and worse -- I seem to always be broken out in one area or another. I decided to go back on Cyclen, and am almost through my first pack. My doctor reccommended Yasmin yesterday at my physical. I am going travelling soon and I don't want my skin to be out of control and I am not sure if starting yasmin will cause my skin a lot of trouble.

Any advice or anecdotes would be helpful.

Re: Help!

So far I've noticed possibly a slight improvement, but its hard to say as I'm only 3 weeks into it, so it may just be that I wasn't having a particularly bad month anyway. It certainly hasn't got any worse, if thats any comfort - it does sound risky, switching to something new right before you go away. Its annoying how doctors seem determined to switch around between products, so even if you find something you like they try and take you off it!

Hope it goes well, good luck!
