Unhappy First outbreak - very painful

Hello everyone,
I am having my first outbreak and am having a pretty rough time with it. I started getting symptoms the day after I had unprotected sex (itching and pain) and then the next day sores started appearing and I had flu-like symptoms. It's now been 9 days since I started to have symptoms and luckily the flu-like symptoms are gone but I still have a lot of pain with the bumps. It burns to urinate and I can't move without hurting. I've been taking Ibuprofin for the pain and it helps a little bit but I'm wondering if anyone else has any suggestions as how to alleviate the pain. I am also wondering approximately how much longer is the pain going to continue? I've had the outbreak for about 9 days now, and I'm wondering when it will stop hurting. Will it only stop hurting after the sores go away or just until they scab over? I am very frustrated because the pain is interfering with my ability to do everyday tasks like going to work, wearing a swimsuit to the beach, etc.

If anyone has any tips, suggestions, or ideas as to how to help alleviate the pain or knows approximately how long the pain will last, I would greatly appreciate the responses.

Thank you so much in advance!!

It's comforting to know that I am not alone here... What do you do for the pain?? Anything in particular or just deal with it? And how long did your first outbreak last? Just curious because I'm wondering about how long mine will last... 2 weeks max maybe? Thank you for responding!!

Re: First outbreak - very painful

a cant remember how long the 1st 1 lasted.. have read on the net that some people say the 1st outbreak is the worst, but to me the 1's a get now are the worst.
have been using aquarius cream it helps stops the itching. but i heard that tea tree oil helps stop itching so a bought some tea tree antiseptic cream 2 days ago, that kind of stops the itching abit to.
but like a said before it depends how bad the outbreak is at the time, mine can like start to itch 1 day an no sores appear an then be gone the next day, or sometimes it can start to itch an sores appear an it lasts a few days.. or a get outbreaks like i have at the min which itch, sores appear an swelling starts that normally lasts upto 1 or 2 weeks

Re: First outbreak - very painful

I just recently had my first outbreak, i was swollen all inside and had the flu-like symptoms. i had a fever that spiked at 104. you should go to the doctor and get some meds it will help with the pain. i ended up in the hospital for 4 days because i delayed getting help. they put me on acyclovir and gave me some zovirax cream and lidocain jelly that really helped get me back to work quicker than i could have been. long story short go see your doctor and get the help you need so you dont have to suffer any more. also see the thread about help with the pain, and drink lots of water. i was drinking a gallon of water a day and it helped alittle but not as much as some of the suggestions people gave me in that thread. i hope you feel better soon.
my prayers are with you,
