SpinalCord Implantation

Hi to all my back problem sufferer's thought I would fill you in on what happened Monday.

Got to the hospital @ 8:45 , my procedure was supposed to start @ 11:00am , didn't get to the OR until 2:45 they were running way late .
Once I was in the OR they gave me some stuff to relax me. I was never once put out for this thing , I felt and heard everything ! You talk about pain ! This hurt me. I felt my surgeon do the Laminectomy , I could hear and feel him crunching bone and once he hit a nerve that sent my body jumping in the air , my surgeon told me not to move because he could hit my spinalcord ! Boy was I upset that I wasn't put out for this part. I told the anestesia woman I could feel him cutting and she said that's all we can give you because the Dr. need's me awake ..I was so angry at her because there was no point of me being awake at this time..The trial stim was so much easier...Maybe everyone don't go through this ,but if I knew I would have been put through all this I wouldn't have had it done .

I didn't get out of the hospital until late yesterday , I was so angry with my Dr. I told him how I wasn't happy. On top of all that right before my discharge the nurse comes in and say's that I should have a script from my PM Dr. for pain...I didn't have anything for the long ride home ...My surgeon said he couldn't give me anything because of my contract with the PM Dr. I called the PM Dr. and he said my surgeon was responsible for my pain med's..My wife had to go to CVS for a script ,an extra hour out of the way because my PM Dr. didn't give me anything before my operation.

I just pray that this thing work's for me , right now my back and bum is hurting pretty bad. This whole thing was horrible . I'm sorry if you get scared reading this , MAYBE everyone doesn't go through this so don't take it to heart..I did survive so we'll see how it works. Thank's for everyone's prayer's. If you have ANY question's just ask me and I'll try to remember every little detail.

Re: SpinalCord Implantation

Man that completely sucks shawley I am so sorry. I swear these damn doctors need to have to go through some of these procedures and gets some damn compassion and understanding. That's why I love my nurse practiioner at my surgeons office she has back problems.

She understands.

I pray that after all this crap you've been through that this finally helps and it is worth it in the end. I know you have had to endure more than any person should have to.

Love you buddy and hope you get better quickly. Hang in there. And if I ever had to get that I would be scared to death now.

Yvette I'm sure everyone doesn't go through the same thing , maybe my surgeon hasn't done to many of these thing's ?? I trust my surgeon but maybe he just doesn't understand how these should be done..

Think about it , a Laminectomy awake and feeling every cut and crunch !
I'll have nightmare's forever !
