I think it could have all been avoided if my surgeon would have called me back. Anyway I was constipated. I finally did an enima prior to the ER visit and all the bm came out. However I couldn't pee. My husband got tired of hearing me moan and groan so off we went. Anyway this week has been hit or miss. I still moan and groan with each bm. I return to work on Monday 6/25 and am so afraid of having a bm while working. I drive around all day calling on different accounts and do not know what I will do if I have to have a bm. With all the moaning and groaning I'm afraid they will think I am dying and call EMS.
Anway, I am glad I found this forum. I could have really used it prior to surgery and during the first week of recover. Actually it might be better that I didn't prior to surgery. I don't think there is any way of God's green earth to prepare for a hemorrhoidectomy.
Any suggestions on making this long recovery period easier please pass them on.

You poor thing, I cant imagine the pain your going through because I havent had any, dont get me wrong, it was very uncomfortable but apart from burning after every Bm the 2nd week Ive not suffered very much.
I had my first Bm 3 days after my op and (not much pain) and have had 2 or 3 Bms every day since. My doctor gave me lactulose and fybergel to take every am and pm and they kept my Bms soft and smooth as they should be.
I stopped taking them 2 weeks ago and went on a high fibre diet and Ive been fine. I dont know if you can get fybergel (senekot) but I swear by it, you just mix it with water and its very pleasant to taste, I took it prior to my op because I suffered a lot of constipation and it worked for me. I know it sounds gross, but Ive read on here its easier to pass your Bms in a bath of warm water, maybe that will help, if I had been in pain believe me I would have done that
please go back to your doctor, You need help and thats what hes there for.
