Question how to stop drinking alcohol correctly?

Question:
What is the safest way to stop drinking alcohol? is it right to stop drinking at all in one day?
63 years old, male w/heart conditions.
I recived vitamin B12 B6 and folic acid. but is it enough?
Last time Ive tried i had shivers, spasms and I am afraid to do any damage to my body.
Is it dangerous to stop drinking in one BANG?
thnx

Re: how to stop drinking alcohol correctly?

It won't harm you stop drinking. How much do you drink a day? I was drinking about a 12 pack every day for around 8 years. One day I just stopped. Quit smoking too. Never felt better. I did not crave either. One day I just decided I had enough and was bored with both stopped cold turkey. I may have 1 frozen margarita now and then with a meal when out at diner but nothing else.

Re: how to stop drinking alcohol correctly?

Depending on how chemically dependent your body is, sudden withdrawal may produce only mild symptoms, or they can be extremely life-threatening. There's no way for you to know ahead of time how dependent your cells are on alcohol. It would be risky to do it yourself.

At your age, and with the amount of alcohol you consume for the duration you've been doing it, and most especially because of your heart condition, you'll be safest to withdraw with medical help. There's plenty of help available for people in your situation. I hope you'll take advantage of it.
Wishing you all the best should you decide to face the challenge!
