Are my Drs. making the right diagnosis ?

I have dealt with anxiety/depression for about 20 yrs. off and on. About 4 yrs. ago it creeped back up on me, so after many Dr. visits, MANY tests I was told again that it's panic attacks/depression. Have even changed Drs. who had me tested for numerous problems, there was a small node on my thyroid gland but said we would keep an eye on it. Passed a stress treadmill with flying colors but still have some heart palps, LOTS of sweating, cannot stand to be out in the heat (I am afraid I won't be able to breathe), but can work out at the gym just fine..Right now I am dizzy, eyes are goofy and I just ache all over my body. Am seeing a psychologist (saw him 15 yrs. ago) and he is helping me some, told me to take a vitamin B complex which is a rice bran soluble mixture so am trying that, along with effexor, diltiazem (for heart palps, lipitor, and alprazolam. Lord I am so sick of feeling like this and nothing seems to help. Are they missing something ??? I do smoke about 1/2 pack a day but my only vice (bad enough I know) but don't drink and do try to excercise and eat right. Any ideas out there ?

Thanks in advance for talking with me, feeling pretty bummed out right now and could just go climb in bed..chest is aching, back is hurting, blah, blah..Just heard today a dear friend has cancer in his ribs..so sad..

God Bless you all !!!

Re: Are my Drs. making the right diagnosis ?

sorry, it's ME again. I didn't mention in my long post that I have TMJ syndrome very bad also, so wonder in my mind if the dizziness, headaches, stiff neck (none of the many other symptoms I mentioned in my previous post) could be from the TMJ.

I'm really not a fruit cake (well maybe I am) hold down a full time job, active in our church and have 2 wonderful sons and grandchildren. Just wish I felt full of energy and life to enjoy things more..

Thanks again. Noticed some people looked at my post but NO response..just need someone to talk to me please ?

Re: Are my Drs. making the right diagnosis ?

I have some of the same symptoms right now. My anxiety started when I was 25 and like you, I have been experiencing it off and on. My latest episode started a few months before my daughter was born. I felt like I was dying and had heart palpitations really bad. I went and had a full work up and everything checked out ok but I still have doubts about what the doctors say and one of my fears is that they overlooked something and are just chocking it up to anxiety.
My main symptom with anxiety used to be trouble taking a deep breath. Now, my symptoms have kind of morphed into something difficult to describe but I get the vision problems, head floating kind of feelings. My advice to you is to trust in your doctors. If you passed the stress test you dont have heart disease and the palps are harmless, though annoying I know. I upped my potassium and drank lots of water and that seemed to help but may have just been a placebo effect.

IN addtion, I find it helpful to say to myself that I have thought doctors have missed something for the past 10 yrs (in your case 20) and I'm still alive, never passed out, never had to call an ambulance.

I hope you find some comfort in knowing that you're not alone in these feelings. Good luck with the therapy, hope youre feeling better today.
