Night cough in 3yo

Hello,
I'm new here, just found this board tonight. I read a few old threads and thought someone might be able to help me...
I have a 3yo daughter who coughs at night during winter ONLY. In Oct/ Nov/ Dec/ Jan/ Feb she is 100%: no cough, NOTHING.
She may have nights where she doesn't cough at all, and is completely asymptomatic.
Usually an episode is triggered by croup, which we have had already 6 times this winter. Then the cough continues for about 10 days, then goes away for say a week. Usually she has a bit of a runny nose during this time, but nothing really noticeable.
I have tried Singulair + Flixotide + Ventolin previous winters, but have come to the conclusion (which the specialist agrees with) that she doesn't have asthma....as the Ventolin really has NO effect on the cough.
I am having her investigated by a paediatric resp. specialist, but I was intrigued by the discussion on allergies/ GERD and night coughing etc on other old threads.

I can give more info if needed, but so far has anyone got any wisdom or thoughts to share?

Many thanks!

Smile Re: Night cough in 3yo

I have a 4 yo daughter that had some of the same symptoms. But, she does have asthma but after the asthma was controlled she still had the night time cough. She say a specialist at Sacred Heart Hospital in Florida and after thousands of test, she sleeps on a plastic covered pillow that gets replaced every three months and gets a teaspoon of benedryl everynight before bed. It has worked for the last 2 years. Hope that helps.
