I had lasik done 3.5 years ago. best thing i ever did for myself! Am very nearsighted and have worn glasses since 3rd grade and contacts since I was 16 (now 45). My best advice to you is to thoroughly research the surgeon who will do the surgery. there is a learning curve involved here. Make sure he/she has done an EXTENSIVE number of procedures. my doc was the best in the area and i still had some relatively minor complications. just stuff that can happen, nothing that would deter me from doing it again. blurry vision, fluctuating vision, "vaseline" vision for a few months following the surgery. I could see perfectly fine though, these things were just annoying. Vision is best outside in brigt sunlight. places w/ low lighting make it somewhat harder to see. the best thing for me was to be able to see 24/7 far and near w/o needing my contacts or glasses. worth its weight in gold if you ask me. do careful research on the surgeon, keep an open mind and dont sweat the fluctuating vision for several months post op ( you will be able to function, read, drive, etc, just fine) that may happen. You also may be one of the lucky few that doenst have that! Go for it, and good luck!
