update: I had simple mast. on right breast. Went back for post op dr. appt. this morning and he removed the 2 drain lines! So glad those are gone; more of a hassle than painful. The 18 staples will come out this friday. I returned to work today. Still can't drive till probably next Monday. I go for appt. with oncologist so we can reschedule my chemo treatments(they of course were cancelled when I had to have the mast.)
I have looked at my chest and yes it is ugly but not sickening to look at like I thought it might be.
Good thoughts going out to all and many prayers to you; stay positive, ask questions, you will be surprised at the path of people you will come across with similar stories; share and don't be afraid to ask anything!
I tried on some wigs too! I know the chemo can be tough but so can I. I'm not trying to be super woman; I'm a very focused, faithful individual that had some body tissue that was sick and had to be removed; now we need to treat my body so other body tissue will not get sick.
happy trails,
kd
ps: I think having a close support system is a very key ingrediant to how one handles this situation. Don't ya'll agree?
