Re: Anyone have experience with Seroquel?

Thank you so much, your reply does help! He seems to be back to the much less violent version now that he has been off the anti-biotic for 5 or so days, so I will hold on to the Seroquil, but don't plan to give it to him unless he reverts back to the serious violence. The poor kid has had to take so many meds his whole life, I hate to add anything unless it really is needed. Thank you so much, I appreciate all the help.

Re: Anyone have experience with Seroquel?

My son is 6 yr. old and is on 100 mg of Seroquel in the morning and 200 mg at bedtime. When he was 3 yr. old he started on 25 mg. Before Seroquel he would head butt us when he was tantruming, he would kick us and the walls while on the floor throwing a fit, he only slept well 3-4 nights a week and cried a lot more. Since Seroquel he sleeps well 5-7 nights a week, he never head butts, he still kicks sometimes but not as hard or as often and his tantrums are much shorter . He's a sweet boy but very moody and throws tantrums almost daily but they used to last much longer, sometimes all day :0. I felt bad giving him meds at first but the difference is night and day. He tried Ritalin and Adderall but they made him REALLY skinny and aggitated. He tried Depakote and we saw no difference at all. He sees a psychiatrist and neurologist and they monitor his meds. Good luck with it .

Re: Anyone have experience with Seroquel?

Wow! Sounds like it really did the trick for him! If Devon starts to get worse again I will give it to him, I feel much better now that I have read some of the responses on here, I was terrified at first. Now at least I have an idea that it may help, I didn't know what to think at first. Thanks so much for the info.

Re: Anyone have experience with Seroquel?

Well.... 5 days into the Seroquel, and I don't see much difference. He is still biting himself until he is bleeding on his arms and still banging his head, and still attacking us. How long until the full effects are seen of this med? In the flyer it says one to two weeks, do I have to watch him do this for that much longer? I am totally frustrated.

Re: Anyone have experience with Seroquel?

For me, Seroquel took two weeks until it worked. I got up to 600mg. Your son is still on a low dosage also, so upping his meds in two weeks if nothing has worked may help. I know you're hesitant, but when I get bad I bang my head with my fists and slap/claw at my face and Seroquel helped me calm down.

Keep high hopes. If this med doesnt work another may. Meds aren't always too abrasive. They can really help.
