Angry Sensitive to Carbohydrates?

I was talking to a friend of mine who is into the same kind of herbs and vitamins as I am, and she told me about some people she knew who had FMS. She said they realized that they had sensitivities to some foods and realized carbs and sugars were some of the worst. I have also heard this elsewhere. I thought it might be worth a try, so I'm now trying it out. IT SUCKS! I can't stand not being able to eat breads and pastas. It was always the staple of my meals, and I've never been much of a meat eater. I have realized the "flare-ups" haven't been as bad or often...but it doesn't seem like enough to quit eating what I want, even along with the weight loss I have been getting. My husband doesn't want me to stop if it's helping at all, but he doesn't know how hard it is to suffer through the mouthfulls of chicken when all I want is D--- PASTA! It's pure torture for me! Sorry for going on and on and on, I just thought you could all give me some advice on doing what's right? Thanks!

Hi Lisa,
Been there, doing that now. It does help, but I'm having trouble with dizziness from lack of carbs. I have been following the Carbohydrates Addict Diet which is more lienient. It allows carbs at one (reward) meal as long as the portions are even protein, vegetables, carbs (in size), plate divided into three equal sections. I have also recently read the Glucose Revolution which discusses satiety of foods. What I have done is began eating my salad at lunch with a piece of pumpernickel bread (high satiety) and I'm doing better because meals are 5-7 hours apart, unfortunately. Breakfast usually consists of fake eggs with spinach, canadian bacon, veggies, etc.
I've been on it about 3 weeks, have lost 12 lbs. and I've been holding for about 4-5 days now (plateau time). I know how you feel about the loss of carbs, however, the swelling in my body has been reduced DRAMATICALLY! I can remove my ring now,no swollen ankles at night, and muscles are recovering quicker from my usual stupidity of overexertion. Take Care, John

Calling all people with carb problems. I have been diagnosed with multiple illnesses and two of them are FM and insulin resistance (related to pcos). Carbs make me feel poorly, I also have Periodic Limb Movements of Sleep. Pcos, plms are genetic issues, I'm wondering if all this isn't connected. I can't believe you like the hot tub! Unless I pour tons of epsom salt in a bath I cannot bear to be submerged in water. It just feels off/wrong and uncomfortable. Definately check out the sleep disorder issues because now that I actually sleep I have gone from not being able to walk up stairs to climbing half way up Enchanted Rock in Texas. I am searching for similarities and links because how can one person have so many health issues. Good luck!

Wecome Opalina, What is the low thing you mentioned? Is it related to cortisol in the body? Sleep issues, welcome to the other sleep board; etc. I love some carbs. I can't function w/o them. I literally get nausous and dizzy until I do eat them. Take care, Kim
