Post No depression

I am still the only one on this board who does not suffer from depression. At least I do not feel that I do. Can you have it and not know it?

Scoobs, I don't suffer from depression nor anxity attacks. I've only had one anxity attack. But, my husband does. Depression is a reaction to the situation your in. I had to force my husband to see a Phycyatrist. He's doing much better w/the depression, but still has a few anxity attacks per week. Love, Kim

Scooby, you CAN have depression and not know about it. Some people have biochemical depression without the feelings of being sad, down, blue, hopeless, etc. and experience it instead as irritability, crabbiness, and being short-tempered. Some people experience it as fatigue. The research is fairly definitive about neurotransmitter problems having a key role in depression, altho the direction of the causal arrows between life situations and decreased levels of the neurotransmitters seem to go both ways. But, all that aside, hooray if you don't have it!!

Scoobs, Don't fret that you don't have depression (don't worry, be happy!). My doc told me that I was depressed because of all the pain I was in. Even as a child, my pain tolerance level was zero, so I know I react very traumatically when hit with pain. The meds just aren't helping me, so let's hope I get situated again and the depression lessens! You go, girl!

I did this post because I thought maybe I was misdiagnosed or something. I always think they just say we have this until they figure out what is really wrong.
