The Kariva Birth Control

My parents are both doctors and they have put all of there teenage daughters on birth control, I, being one of them. They are worried about having a pregnat teenager on there hands because most of us have boyfriends. My parents aren't the type of parents that will answer the birth control questions for me so I thankfully found Health Boards. I have been researching things about Kariva birth control for a few days now because I notice some changes in myself. [ex: slight deppression and alittle weight gain] and from what I have understood this is completly normal because that iis what everyone seems to have a little of.

I use to take Yasmin [sp?] and had no problems with it. I am a sexully active teenager and ALWAYS seem to worry about getting pregenat. My boyfriend and I ALWAYS use a condom but I still worry... because I don't want kids right now...So my first question is how long does Kariva take? I have heard everything from 1 day to a whole month anyone actually know?

Second nothing can 100% tell me the diffrence between the green and blue pills and that is what I really want to know. What is the makes them diffrent and what do they do. I know most of the time they a just sugar pills but I was just wondering.

Thank you all sooo much! =]

Re: The Kariva Birth Control

Hey

I am not familiar with Kariva, but I can answer more about the green vs. blue pills.

The blue ones have the hormones, as you probably know. The green ones, again as you are aware of, are "sugar pills". These are placebo pills, meaning they essentially don't do anything for you, but they represent a daily pill. They're basically there for you to remember to always take your pill daily, and for some people, if they do not use the sugar pills, they often forget when to begin a pack, or sometimes get off track with timing.

Hope this helps!

so there are white pills then there are two green pills and the rest are blue. Usually the week of your period the pills are not white so what is the difference between the green and blue pills?

Kariva is the generic version of Mircette. In the literature that comes with the pill it states that this form of hormone desogen there is some increase in risk of blood clots. Maybe it isnt much or maybe it is something to think about when choosing a pill.

These pills were worse for me. I just felt more nausea and I think my cholesterol is rising too much. Also I had pain in my calf so I am stopping. I am active but overweight. If I were younger and was going to have more children I would search out a more suitable pill for me but I gotta get off the pill.

Ty I was wondering why there wasnt just the white pills with the hormones then the sugar pills . What is the purpose of the two blue pills. Are then a certain dosage leading up to the sugar pills?
