What's the future of PPI Meds

I read an article today that some of you may be interested in. The article basically said that the makers of two popular PPI medications reported to the FDA that they have studies that indicate their products increase the risk for heart attack. The FDA at this time claims the medications are safe and the risk is only imagined and they will revisit the issue later in the year when more data is available. The article continued on making a comparison between the FDA's handling of the Vioxx problem. A drug that possibly may have caused the death of 20,000 before finally being pulled from the shelf's because of the actions of a whistleblower.

My guess would be this class of drugs will be safe until something is available to take their place. It's just about the only magic that conventional medicine has in it's arsenal.

Red,

if you look a few posts below yours, you'll find a thread called ""the Nexium controversy."" It's about the same thing. Not too many replies.
