Question about weight loss and strength training

Well, I joined the gym. I started my strength training. I currently weigh in the 215-220 range. I want to know, if I bulk up, will I be able to lose weight(as in body fat) later on? I know the scale will go up if I do bulk up because of the muscles. But I'm just looking to lose body fat, a lot of it.

Will I lose it faster due to having a lot of muscles, doesn't that speed up your metabolism? Can I also hit the treadmill for some cardio as well to speed up the fat loss?

Yes, yes, yes. When you build muscle, the scale may not move much, but you are truly making fat loss effort easier. The increased metabolism is very important when you're looking to get (and *stay*) leaner. When you direct your focus to all three fitness aspects at once (strength training, cardio training and diet) you should get excellent results. Sounds like you are on the right track.
