Problems after Aspiration Pneumonia, I NEED HELP!

It's been 4 months. I am still on Asmanex, Singulair, Prevacid, Lasix, Coozar, Advair, Albuterol, and just did another course of prednisone.

Doctors are baffled why I still have my cough, and wheezing.

Anyone have ANY suggestions?? I would greatly appreciate it as I am loosing confidence in my situation.

Have your doctors, check you for Pulmonary Sarcoidoisis, I was diagnose with this in '98 and it seems to one of those things that for years you can go back and forth with various things before you can find one doctor that may know of this disease and early detection is better than later. Take care and if you have more questions please free to let me know.

Re: Problems after Aspiration Pneumonia, I NEED HELP!

Aspiration Pneumonia can be very difficult to get over, especially if you were originally untreated for some time. Do you know if they have done a sputum culture recently to identify if there is an organisim. There is also an AFB sputum culture for TB. Although this is an uncommon bacteria in the US it can surface in the immune comprimised patient. It sounds like you have been seeing a doctor so I am sure your blood work doesn't show anything but a blood & sputum culture should be done if they haven't been done.

Lastly, a pneumonia can give you asthma like trouble for months. Avoid sented candles and chemicals that can aggrivate your respiratory system

Good Luck,
Roger

Re: Problems after Aspiration Pneumonia, I NEED HELP!

I was given Levaquinn and prednisone for 1 week following the aspiration. I just got worse. Went to my own GP who put me in the hopsital and treated me appropriately. I am now with a different pulmonologist. Nothing has been said about "Pulmonary Sarcoidoisis". I'll research it and discuss it with him on my next visit.

I was told this would take time, but it has now been over 4 months, I was hoping to be healed by now.

Sputum samples were taken in the hospital, nothing was said after the fact.

Is this something that will last forever and we just need to adjust to it and treat the attacks as they come???

Thank you so much for repsonding. I am truly at crossroads with this.
