Side effects with amiodarone

Does anybody out there know what the percentages are for serious side effects for people taking amiodarone as drug therapy for v-tac type arrhythmia's ?
Sounds like a lot of people take this drug, with good results.
Im still undecided whether to take it or not.
Any replies would be appreciated.

hello Used to be on amiodarone.The doctors choice of drug for me, until it caused my thyroid togo into thyroidtoxicity and hyperthyroidism. This drug has iodine in its compound. My thyroid thought "hey i hit paydirt,oh boy iodine. " The Drs had to think this through should we remove the thyroid to continue using this drug or stop. They choose to stop the amiodarone. This drug is good for short durations. My thyroid is back to normal. I'm drug sensitive. Drug therapies are individualized, trial and error. I have a major heart problem,7 years, I taken a lot of drugs to get where I'm at today. Alive. Like with all drugs comes with side effects, so sometimes the benefits out weigh the risks. Ask your Doctor about the risks and benefits, and Why your taking amiodarone. Take care

Thank you for your reply, i figure the more background information i can get, the better off i will be when i decide what to do. My doctor has informed me of all the possible side effects, it's just nice to hear from people who have experienced it first hand.

don't take it it ruined my mothers lungs, I also know another person who has been on it for eight months and now has damaged lungs, it is a potant drug which has to be carefully monitered
