I have been taking
Coreg for more than 3 years along with other medication after diagnosed with heart failure.
You can look for
Coreg to reduce your heart rate as a beta blocker, but unlike other beta blockers there is component called an ACE inhibitor (inhibits
angiotensin that constricts vessels) to relax vessels and should lower blood pressure as a result. I also take an ACE inhibitor (lisinopril).
Coreg as a beta blocker reduces the effects of excitement and physical exertion, stress, etc. on the heart and it lowers the force of contractions. So it is a treatment for some arrhythmias, pounding heart, palpitations, etc., but contraindicated if blood pressure is normal or lower.
For stronger heart beats I take Digoxin.
After years of medication my heart pumps normally and normal in size. You don't comment on your diagnosis, but I assume it is heart failure as
Coreg lowers the heart's afterload and provides relief to an otherwise overworked heart.
