The virus itself cannot be treated--only symptoms. Warts can be frozen off, or treated with cellular immune modifying compounds like Aldara cream.

Re: how can men be treated for hpv?

Like piperpilot said, unfortunately there is no treatment for men -- there isn't even a test for men to know if they have HPV!

And also, women can't truly be treated for HPV. Warts are frozen off and cervical dysplastic lesions are surgically removed. Neither of these procedures cures you of HPV as warts and dysplasia are physical manifestations of the virus.

The best bet would be to improve your overall health and immune system. The stronger your immune system is, the more likely your body will recognize the HPV in your body and suppress it. It will never go away, but it can be dormant for years. However, even if it stays dormant for a while, if your immune system is down, then the virus can become active again.

That is why it is essential to stop smoking if you do, cut back on caffeine and alcohol, and eat more vegetables and fruits. Exercise is also extremely important! And stress-- try and limit your stress levels in your life. Lots of woemn I know who have dysplasia linked it to a stressful moment in their lives.

So take good care of your body-- this is the only way to keep HPV at bay!
