Re: What things can trigger mania?

Oh wow...that could be quite an extensive list.

High caffeine intake.
High sugar intake.
High stress levels.
Sleep deprivation.
Excitement that can lead to manic excitement.
Irritability that can lead to manic irritability.
Situational problems...
Drug use.
Alcohol use.
Cigarette use...

The list goes on and on depending on your situation.

Re: What things can trigger mania?

I find for me that when I am already excited about something it just escalates. I also find that when I have been depressed for a long time and there is a straw that breaks the camel's back, sometimes I get manic. Caffeine also does this (Once right after I was diagnosed I drank 3 mountain dews and went crazy...note to self, never do that again) Anyway, sleep triggers both mania and depression for me. too much sleep =depression. too little sleep=mania.

Re: What things can trigger mania?

I feel like right now im mixed mania -depression - more on the mania side. But to me what i think what trigger mine it seems always around my birthday which is today 9.29.07 - I always think - where is my life going ? what I have done with myself? what have I accomplished? I still rent - no house, no kids - no I'm not gay - for some that would automatically would judge me.

who is to say my mental is to blame? hell if I know. But I dont want to use it as an scapegoat all of the time either.

has anyone feel the same way?
