Ovarian Cyst - When will the pain stop?

About two weeks ago I was told by my dr (after an ultrasound) that I possibly had a cyst that burst. Currently, I am experiencing some pretty bad pain - it's not as bad as when it first happened, but the pain is pretty intense. How long will this pain last and when should I expect it to go away? I feel like I have to pee every 5 minutes. When I went for the ultrasound, I was told to have a full bladder - I felt VERY full, when indeed I was pretty empty. Currently, I am waiting 6 weeks for another ultrasound. Not sure if I am comfortable with waiting, or if I should go back because of the pain.

Re: Ovarian Cyst - When will the pain stop?

Hi Amanda, I would say if you are feeling pressure (feeling like you have to pee a lot) and are in a bit of pain, definitely call your Dr's office. They should be able to get you in sooner for another U/S to see what's going on.
I hope you get feeling better and good luck with everything. Cysts rupturing are not fun!

Re: Ovarian Cyst - When will the pain stop?

As soon as you posted this reply, I called to make another appointment. I am scheduled for next Wednesday. Still in pain here... the mornings are not too bad, but by the evening I am near tears and clutching to the heating pad. My Wed. appt. does not include an u/s but rather a switch from the regular family doctor to the GYN within the practice. Are there any questions I should come in hand with? Do you know typically how long the pain lasts from a burst cyst? I was under the impression that it was only a few days or a week of mild pain. Last night, I was very feverish and couldn't eat dinner. Sometimes, I feel like such a baby for not sucking it up and getting through this, but I am not sure when to really call the doc...I knid of feel like I am bothering them too much!

Re: Ovarian Cyst - When will the pain stop?

I just started my period for the first time since the ovarian cyst burst. This is the most pain I have ever experieinced - worse than the bursting. Is this normal? I have been crying for hours and can not see relief in the near future. What can I do to ease the pain?

Did your doctor run a CBC to check your white blood cell count? Sometimes ruptured cysts can cause infection. I would have your DR rule that out during your appointment. If you begin to run a fever or feel worse, go to the ER. Hope you're feeling better soon.
