Oxycodone...Typical Dosage (???)

Hello...

What is a typical dosage of Percocet (Oxycodone) in pill form?

I came down w/ a severely pinched nerve at the base of my neck...which is shooting some nasty pain down my right arm; & in addition to prescribing me Prednisone; & sending me to a really good local neurologist...my doctor also gave me a scrip for Roxicet....for the pain. Each pill sports 5MG of Oxycodone & 325MG of Acetamenophine. Of course I intend to follow the dosage directions (not having dependency issues or any thing of that sort)...but is 5MG typical, low or high? Just curious.

Thanks,

MF

Re: Oxycodone...Typical Dosage (???)

5mg every 4-6 hours is normal for someone without tolerance. What you want is to control the pain as best you can without being mentally compromised.

Re: Oxycodone...Typical Dosage (???)

5mg is the usual pain med given, while 10mg is used for after surgery or someone who is tolerant to the meds. I do believe they have 2.5 mg but I have never been prescribed it.

Hope you feel better soon!

Re: Oxycodone...Typical Dosage (???)

I take 10/325 every 5 to 6 hrs. for my back/leg pain....I havd been taking this for almost 1 1/2 yrs.... It does help make my life tolerable... Different meds. work differently for different people.... Some people would be knocked out by the dosage I take..but I function just fine....normal....
