buy the date on the medicine, can I find out when my boyfriend got herpes?

I've been living with my boyfriend for 7 years. I just found out yesterday that he has herpes. He volunteered the information because I've been on him about our lack of sex life.

He told me when he got it, but I suspect that he had an affair several years back. I had suspected it then, but he denied it. What I need to know is if he had this affair. He said the tube of zovirax he had was the first and only his doctor perscribed. I need to know if the dates match his claims.

Here's the date on the ointment: may 04 (assuming expiration date?)
and the lot number is OE260

Can some one please tell me where I can get the information on when this was manufactured. Also, if you know, how long after you get a perscription does it expire?

I really, really, need help finding this out. It's not that he has gotton herpes, I can deal with that if he got it before me, but the issue is that he tore our family apart during the time I suspected he had an affair, harmed us financially, and in defensiveness, was not nice to me when I questioned it, so I need to know if he had indeed cheated.

I really appreciate anyone who can help me or can point me in a direction of a resource where I can find the answer.

Pinpointing dates on medicine is not going to tell you when he got herpes. Fact is, herpes can and does remain dormant in people for years sometimes without them ever showing a symptom. So when your boyfriend had an outbreak it could have been newly acquired from an affair or it could have been from a previous infection. At this point there really is no way to know.

I believe prescription meds are usually only good for about 6 months, at which time they should be disposed of. Some creams etc. will have an expiry date on them.

I understand, the doctor told him he could have been carring the virus for years. If anyone can help me for the date information, I'd really appreciate. He told me when he said he got this medicine. If it doesn't match up...when he said he got the medicine...he's lying to me, and we need to do some talking. I know you are supposed to try this medicine away after one year, but I just need to know about when this tube was given to him.

Can I blood test tell me if I've been exposed, even if I haven't had an OB?

A blood test will tell you if you have the virus, outside of 3 - 4 months. Meaning that if you've just acquired the virus, it won't show up on blood.

I think you're fighting a losing battle in trying to track down a date on medication. I seriously doubt that you'll be able to find what you're looking for. Best I can recommend is some internet research, but I think your wasting some time. Fact is, if you don't trust him enough to believe his claim about the medicine, you need to sit down and do some talking anyway.
