day 2 good morning
morning, all.I woke up sick.was inevitable,I guess.I dont have to be in to work till a little later than usual,as I have to go and measure a job more up north here b4 I go in to the office and its still dark.I slept, tho.I tried to wait but could really feel the wd's coming on so I ate 2 vicodans.I was definetly trying in my head to justify eating more but I'm not going to.my wife and 3 little girls are coming home later after being gone since last friday. They went to visit some friends down south.I had really hoped when I stopped cold turkey last friday to be over it b4 they came back but I guess that isnt happening as you all know I couldnt do it and used my oxys sunday afternoon and monday morning.
I still feel ok and am going to continue the tapering plan.I havent not done my oxys for 2 days in a long time so I feel I'm already ahead of the game.
snowy and frozen and cold out.wish I could just stay home but I guess I'm gonna go and bury my nose in my work.the bottom line for me right now is i'm withdrawing off of the oxys and I dont have the runs or the other nastys that go with cold turkey.in one sense I feel like I'm cheating, but after what I went thru last weekend its this or continue snortin oxys and thats not an option.
I hope you all have a good day at whatever you may be doing and please, keep checking in on me.Its the hope that I am getting here that is giving me the hope to get thru this.the next couple days will be the worst.
peace,and god bless.
jerry.

Re: day 2 good morning
morning jerrry,
just keep doing what you're doing....so far its working for you. as you get through these days, yes, its going to get a little rough for you, but we'll be here, and you have faith that you'll get through it , to the otherside, soon. Just keep thinking about how nice it'll be for you and your family to enjoy a sober Christmas (or Hannukah) together. Keep drinking lots and lots of water, force it, it'll make things move a little faster. Bury yourself in work and (gulp) exercise as much as you can. Use over the counter meds to help sleep. Dont forget about hot baths, heating pads and electric blankets. Just a little relief i know, but ever little bit helps.
Here's hoping for a good day for you today, Jerry !
Hugs,
michelle

Re: day 2 good morning
keep up the good work mate, i was where you are a fortnight ago, it may seem like forever but it gets a little better every day. use your kids & wife as your motivator for sobriety. do what michelle has said below- i found that tonic water (quinine) was quite good for leg cramps. a 1 week only course of sleepers (temazepam) may also help you through. just do as you are doing - keep your head down & go for it. you can do it. just keep checking in on the boards for that reassurance.
keep on keepin on

Re: day 2 good morning
Jerry.... If *I* had the strength to do it, you can as well. I know it's tough Buddy, but just keep remembering the things in life that are important to you, and every time you feel like you're slipping, ask yourself if those things are worth losing. You know, back a couple years ago when I went thru this for the first time, there were a couple occasions that I felt like I just couldnt do it anymore....that I just wanted it all to be over....I almost did the unthinkable a few times - but each time I felt it getting bad like that, all I had to do was to walk into my kids' rooms, and look at their gorgeous little sleeping faces, and I gained strength....BIG strength. Life is sooooooo much better clean....trust me, I was there once and it was awesome!!
Hang in Pal - keep postig!
