Question Im shuffling along.....

I have had a neurolgical problem for just over 5yrs. Still undiagnosed. My symptoms come and go. I have never written on PD site before, never felt I had to. However, to explain, in two weeks time I am going to see a specialist regarding Lymes Disease. It is a possibility but with neurology nothing is certain. My reason for writing here is this. I have gradually become alot worse, instead of my symptoms coming and going, they are not going. My legs are becoming weaker. I would shuffle along now and then before, now its every day. I get up from sitting down and shuffle to the kitchen, the more I walk the more dizzy I become. I have a dog and walking him is now becoming very difficult. I got halfway yesterday and couldnt go any further. After a few yards my walking slowed down, my brain felt like it slowed down, I felt as though I was going to fall down and im finding this frightning.I get this sort of brain fog and my surroundings dont seem real. Its SO hard to describe, but I have to concentrate 100 times harder on walking, keeping my balance than normal. I get tremors, tonite when I was eating my dinner it was not hard, but more annoying. I have had various tests, ie: Spinal tap, that came back positive for oligoclonal bands, but its not MS cause the bands are in the blood aswel. My MRI has numerous white spots now and down my spinal cord. My back hurts alot, as do my arms, wrists and left knee joint. My posture is so stooped now aswell. My handwriting is ok, though not pretty to look at, very spidery and I cant write for long as my wrist hurts. Iv never experianced the freezing symptom. Sometimes when I go to walk I just stop dead as I feel like Im gonna fall, its not a concious thing it just happens. Its because of the shuffling and problems walking that I am writing. I am certainly not trying to self diagnose, just a bit concerned. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Im shuffling along.....

What meds do you take? What tests have you had (MRI's, etc.) I was on Baclofen for a while and it slowed my body to a crawl. I'm also not a definite PD, also have spinal stenosis issues. Good luck - I've thought about checking about the possibility of Lyme but the NS and neurologist I mentioned this to both discouraged me from doing that.

Hang in there.

Re: Im shuffling along.....

Hi Sunshine, Thanks for the reply. I have had MRI,s, they show lots of white spots on the brain and down the spinal cord, not the right shape for MS apparently. Also have a positive lumbar puncture. I was on Baclofen for quite a while, for the spasms I was having. Im not on it now, I get tremors but not as many spasms. Just gonna keep going until I get an answer I guess. My problems is my symptoms come and go, for the last two weeks I have had great difficulty walking, the pain is something to be reckoned with and I shuffle along, and then suddenly freeze, and I have to think wich way Im going, then I get back on a roll again, and just shuffle along. Who knows what it is, I just know its taking over....Take care.....

Re: Im shuffling along.....

My doc made an interesting comment yesterday. I said I was ok with "status quo" - he said why status quo when it can be better and he convinced me to try Azilect in addition to Requip. I'm hesitant but we'll see.
