I am so distraught.I am 46 and have been riddled with arthritis for several yrs.
Each yr becomes progressively worse.My neck,entire spine,knees,hip area and legs are involved.I also have fibromyalgia,sleep apnea and ENT problems.
I have tried all the nsaids and have taken lyrica etc....
The only medicine that gives me relief is predisone.I also take ultram for pain and provigal for narcolespy.
I have gained alot of weight over the past three years.Mainly due to the predisone.
Has anyone found a med that helps like predisone??Thanks MB
Did you read my post about the danger of hidden food allergies ??? Being allergic to a food CAN CAUSE ARTHRITIS ! Everyone seems to be ignorant about this. Please read it if you did not. I too am on nasty prednisone, after my rhumy. telling me that after getting on methotrexate i will not need pred. anymore ( yeah right !) i am stuck on both meds and she wants me to go on go on another one too. I am in the process of eliminating foods that i am allergic too in order to heal my leaky gut syndrome and hopefully cure this arthritis. Let me know what you think.

I could not keep taking it but Arava stopped my joint pains for almost a year, I was just one of the ones that had a lot of side effects from it, but I know some people stay on it without side effects. Even after I stopped it last spring, I had no trouble till this fall, now I am on prednisone with my Azulfidine and Dolobid. Plaquenil also helped but I had problems after many years on it, 12-13. good luck!!

sorry to hear of your pain, i was wondering what type of arthritis you have. If Rheumatoid i was wondering what DMARDS you have tried. I have just started on Plaquinel (Hydroxychloroquine). If only steroids were safe to take forever as i agree they really are good at helping Im now down to 10mg Prednisolone daily.
