Question Could This Be Some Kind Of Ulcer?

Hello,

I haven't been here in years... umm apparently since 1970! Wait, that was before I was born! Heehee, something's wrong there Anyway, let me tell you my symptoms:
  • I've been feeling extremely nauseous at times for about three to four weeks.
  • After I eat, or when I'm hungry, my stomach physically hurts and I get. something that feels kinda like indigestion or heartburn.
  • I'm already on Nexium for reflux and it isn't helping.
  • Stress makes the pain recur/become worse.
  • Caffeine seems to make the pain worse.
  • I'm gaining weight.
  • I always feel like I'm gasping for air and can't get it down into my lungs except for once in a while.
  • This is a little embarrassing, but I'm extremely "burpy". I burp all of the time and I can see no cause for it!

I think that's everything that I've been experiencing. I've just been trying out every disease I could think of and looking it up. I went to my doctor last Tuesday and she didn't know what was wrong with me, but took my blood to run for tests. She did mention that it might be an ulcer, but was also testing for other things. I called on Friday and the results weren't in yet. I hate waiting!

Anyway, do you think it could be some sort of ulcer? If so, which kind? What is the treatment involved? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Could This Be Some Kind Of Ulcer?

A lot of those symptoms do sound like they belong to a peptic ulcer. Those are sometimes caused by infection with H. Pylori, a bacteria. That was probably one of the tests your doctor did.

If you do have Pylori-related ulcer, it will be treated with antibiotics. That usually cures it within 4 weeks, almost always within 8.

Meanwhile, try avoiding foods that are fatty, any tart or sour fruits, (including tomatoes and citrus), as well as anything else that seems to bother you. Munching on small amounts of white starch throughout the day can help.

Good luck!

Yes I had all those symptoms, and was recently diagnosed with a peptic ulcer based on my symptoms.

Unhappy Re: Could This Be Some Kind Of Ulcer?

Hi there, this sounds just like my symptoms. The doctor said i had a Peptic Ulcer. I'm having a problem finding something i can eat. Some foods make my nausaed just smelling them. I was put on Amosicillin cap 500 MG 2 in the morning and 2 at night and Clarithromycin 1 twice a day and omeprazole 20 MG i think same at prilosect OTC. The doctor and some friends scared me saying that you have a lot of the same symptoms with heart problems and get to the doctor if i have a heavy chest or hurting in my arm. I have been one sick puppy. Hope this helps.
