Post Back from Derm Visit...

Hi All,

Just got back from my derm visit...(now I remember why I hated him so much last year.."bedside manner of a bed post"...argh) He looked at me for approximately 10 seconds and wanted to put me on tazorac again. Hello...it didn't work last time...what makes him think that it would work this time and I told him so. So he put me on differin .1%...and told me to come back in 2 months and if it doesn't work he wants to put me on accutane again...sheesh...oh well I'm done venting now and I am thinking that I am going to order the jojoba oil and alternate using it with the differin at night (to at least "give it a shot"). Hmmm...maybe I could try putting the jojoba oil on first and then using the differin...? Maybe then my face wouldn't get so irritated. Anyway, anyone have any thoughts on the differin/jojoba oil thing?...or any derm venting to do? LOL

Take Care...

I think you both need to find dermatologists that will listen to you and are sensitive to your needs.

Ask around and find out who is good in your area.

You deserve better.

well the fact is, there's not much derms can do. what works to clear up one person won't work for another, and derms just have to hand out what they think will work. my dermatologist, for example, gives the same thing to every first time patient...cleocin pledgelets and differin cream or gel. they just do the best they can...i know i get annoyed with mine sometimes, but then i think...and without her, how much better would i be doing?

I think the point of dermatologists is moot in terms of Acne. No one knows how to stop acne or else we'd all be on the same drug that cured everyone. We go to a derm particularly so they can write prescriptions. I say you figure out what works best for you and you tell your doctor to write it. Sometimes they will only write things they have agreements on with pharmaceutical co's. Very sad. I went in recently to go back on Accutane and I was prescribed Minocycline and Benzaclin...two things that never worked before. I declined the Benzaclin because it was the worst thing I have ever used, so he put my on Triaz and Klaron, neither of which is good for facial acne, but Klaron is Awesome for Body Acne (chest and back). In any case its a sad day that we spend so much money on Small Pox vaccines for a disease that PROBABLY wont ever come back into existence and most hospitals are refusing to vaccinnate employees anyway, but we dont spend any time on current problems like Aids and yes, acne. Talk about BOOSTING the economy. C'mon Pfizer, Merck, Brystol-Myer....FIND A CURE FOR ACNE. YOU WILL BE SO RICH!! Im getting off my soapbox now.
