Clindamycin

My doctor just prescribed Clindamycin 1% lotion for my mild/moderate acne. I never really had any major problems with acne until recently - I'm 29 years old.

I was just wondering if anyone could share any info or experience they have with Clindamycin.

Thanks!

Re: Clindamycin

I use clindamycin lotion. My derm has me putting it all over my face at night and then immediately following with retin-a. The next time I see him, he says he is going to give me a prescription for something that is a combination of the two. I don't know what that is. It works well for me, although I feel like it makes my face oily. My derm says it doesn't though.

Re: Clindamycin

I've used clinda lotion, however, not by itself. I hate to be negative, but I really don't think clinda lotion on its own will really help your acne, unless it's very very mild. My derm told me that studies have shown that while on an oral antibiotic, a topical antibiotic (like clinda) increases effectiveness. Not sure how good of results you'll get by using just the clinda alone though... If you ONLY want to use a topical, I'd say your best bet is Retin-A, Differin, or Tazorac-- NOT clinda. good luck!

I think the combination of clindamycin and tretinoin (retin-a) is called Ziana.
