Good psa result after BRachy

I am happy to say that after 4.5 months since my Brachy my Psa has dropped nicely. It went from 3.5 before the Brachy to 1.9. I know it can bounce around yet and will eventually go to .1... but for today I am a happy camper. I still have irritative urinary issues and just switched to detrol LA from uroxatral. I am hoping my frequency starts decreasing on the detrol. There are days i have to hit a toilet every 20 minutes for hours. Do any of you have any experience with detrol NOT improving your urinary frequency? I just started it 3 days ago. My libido and potency have been great from the getgo....

Re: Good psa result after BRachy

Hi, glad you are feeling good about things.

I'm due for Brachytherapy in February next year.

When did your problem with frequency come on? I seem to recall you were going over 3 hours straight after the implant.

Re: Good psa result after BRachy

I am 15 months post brachytherapy. Had an early stage cancer - GS = 3+3, no palpable tumor, cancer found in 1/10 cores and in one-third of that core. Had PSA checked every 3 months during the first year. Went from 5.6 (pre-treatment) to 0.9, 0.9, 0.6, 0.4. Am now getting it measured every 6 months. In the second year, it is possible to experience a PSA "bump", where the PSA increases. They don't get worried unless it increases for 3 succesive readings, spread over 9 months. I am now over urinary problems but, for me, it took about 5 months before I was.

Re: Good psa result after BRachy

Well, i still can go up to four hours in my sleep. During the day, it is somewhat more active. There are many times I am comfortable up to about 2 hours when travelling. But just as often, no matter how much i have drank, it can be every 20 mins to a half hour. I carry around a container in the car for such emergencies. I always had an overactive bladder, and these symptoms have worsened somewhat. We'll see if the detrol helps. The past week has been particularly frequent as i have switched from the uroxatral to the detrol. Detrol is said to take a while before it help. The burning on urination has improved to just some mild pain on urination....
