You didn't say in your post how high your blood pressure runs, and if your doctor has put you on any medication.
It is sometimes possible to control hypertension with diet and exercise, but not always. Also, with hypertension, it's a good idea to get it controlled as soon as possible, because it can do all sorts of damage to your body...to all of the organs, as well as to the arteries themselves. Sometimes the best thing to do is to get it regulated with medication, get on an appropriate diet/exercise program, and then (with your doctor's help), try to slowly cut back on the medication to see if the diet/exercise is actually working.
It's also dangerous to do certain kinds of exercise while your blood pressure is already high.
