Question Altace

Does anyone take altace to lower their blood pressure?
If so what side effects do you experience? I have been on it for 18 months and at times I feel good and then their is times I feel weak and extremely tired. Does any one have those symptons? I went off my Altace 10 mg a week ago and I feel better. Im not as tired it seems. My BP now runs about 150/90. With altace it was 130/86.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hey there,

I've only been on Altace for six weeks but the
drug has really helped, i.e., from 140/100 to
120/80 so of course I'm really happy. In the
beginning (about a week) I felt dizzy, nauseous,
and generally out of it.
However, I have not experienced any more side
effects lately except some days I lack energy.
But this could be just something that happens to
all of us at one time or another. Maybe I didn't
have a great sleep the night before, missed a
meal......you know,stuff like that.
Now I'm rambling but I'll get to the point. I
am also taking a drug for cholesterol and apparently
these drugs have heavy duty side effects as well.
Do you take additional drugs?

Take it easssssssssssyyyyyyyyy................

I was switched from 40 mg Accupril/Quinapril to 10 mg Altace a few months ago. I have not noticed a single side effect. Without medication my pressure runs around 170/110, on these does of ACE inhibitors, I just barely reach the 140/90 mark, and sometimes run upt to 160/100. With the addition of Toprol XL, my pressure runs very low (90/60 average).

If you can withstand the side effects, try to stick with it. A 150 systolic and 90 diastolic are not pressure that you want to persist for a sustained period of time.

I'm new here.....I have taken Altace since May, and it keeps my blood pressure perfect. I take 2.5 mg every day. I also take Lipitor for cholesterol, and ferrous sulphate for anemia. I never had any side effects with the Altace except for a little hacking cough for a while, it finally went away, so it might not have been the Altace after all.
I hope this helps some.
