Post How long before HBP causes organ damage?

Has anyone read on the internet or perhaps someone is a Dr./nurse out there that might know how long before uncontrolled high blood pressure causes organ damage?
I have known about my HBP since Oct. 2002 but Dr. hasnt been able to get it under control yet. My highest reading thus far 180/140... tonight's reading 158/117. Granted it is down from last year with the help of three different meds but I am starting to wonder how long this can go on before it starts damaging organs.
