Benicar

Has anyone experienced rapid heartbeat from taking Benicar? Have you changed to another drug? If so, what are you taking now?

I had to stop taking Monopril because of a cough. I'm having difficulty finding another medication that lowers the bp as well as the Monopril without experiencing bad side effects. Also tried Sectral and Verelan.

I was on Lotensin but developed dry cough at night. They switched me to 20mg of BENICAR. I am having good luck with Benicar and hydrochlorothiazide!! They just added Toprol-XL to my list of drugs and I have been on it a few days now..problems I have experienced with Toprol-XL are unable to sleep at night, one night of very bad vomiting, and today I felt really aggrevated for no reason???

How many mg of Benicar are you on?

I was on 20mg of Benicar. It really helped lower my blood pressure but made my heart race. Doc then gave me Verelan and I have been totally miserable. I'm experiencing several side effects, swelling in my ankles (so bad sometimes I can't wear my shoes), increased urination (makes it difficult to get a good nights sleep), and some female problems too. My blood pressure is still running around 150/90. Not nearly as well as the monopril (120/80). I also tried diuretics but they too make my heart race.
