How well does Darvocet work?

Hi everyone. I went to the orthopedic doc about my chronic knee pain (had surgery almost two years ago and am in need of a knee replacement but will have to wait until after my total hysterectomy in 10 days) and told him that the Ultram works fine on normal pain days but the days when it is unbearable I need something stronger and he gave me Darvocet.

I have never taken this drug but that is what they gave my sister after surgery for her gallbladder removal. How well does this drug compare to Lortab? I have had Lorab after my knee surgery and know that it works well when the pain is really bad.

Of course everyone is different but Darvocet worked as well as Lortab for me, the problem being that to get enough of the darvon part (propox a something) the tylenol dose got to be too high - I always ended up with the lortab or norco 10/325 so I could take 3 if needed

I am sorry to say that for me, Darvocet is useless. There was a recent study that showed that Darvocet was as effective in pain relief as two aspirin. It seems to help some people though. I hope it helps you!

I wish you luck with Darvocet. I took it a few years ago for something and all I remember is it did nothing.

I'm on darvocet for back pain. It works in abundance (like 3 or 4 at a time) but 1 in the am and 1 in the pm as prescribed isn't very effective.
