Question Hydrochlorothiazide Dosage

I have developed swelling in both ankles and feet due to taking Norvasc. So, my doctor put me on one 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide every other day. I noticed my ankles would swell on the "off" days when I didn't take it. My doctor increased the dosage to one 25 mg. EVERY day. The swelling is a lot better, but still noticeable. Does 25 mg. once a day seem like a low dosage? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/confused.gif

Thanks!

I am not a doctor but as I understand it, 25 mg a day is considered a 'low' dose, and 12.5 mg a day is considered a 'very low' dose, so it seems you're in the low dose range. doses above 25 mg a day do not lower blood pressure any more than the low dose regimen and in fact may screw up the lipid and glucose profile. if your doc wants to up the dosage any more, I'd be suspect.
