Red face please help!!!

a few days ago, my fiance was diagnosed with strep throat and was given a shot of penicillin. now, he's having other symptoms. he's having postnasal drip, he has a headache in the back of his head, and he's having trouble breathing. his throat hurts worse than when he went to the doctor and he can't swallow anything. the drainage is so bad that he's gagging on it. he can't sleep because of it. he says he can't blow his nose. like, it's just draining down the back of his throat. i've never seen him this sick and i don't know what else to tell him. please help!

Re: please help!!!

He may need another trip to the doctor. Also, a sinus rinse (like NeilMed, I got mine at Walgreens, but have seen it at WalMart, too) can help with that nasty postnasal drip. I've been through that.

Re: please help!!!

Does he have a fever at all? Do you know if the docs did a strep culture to determine that it was strep? I had a case of both strep and mono at once. It involved miserable amounts of mucus, but my fever went away after the penicilin. The mucus stayed a while. Give it time and don't stress too much.. Or take him back to the DR. I would guess that it's either bacterial and the antibiotics will help or it's viral and not much can be done. He should get over it either way.
