Zhibituo vs. Xuezhikang RYR

I just purchased one package each of the above red yeast rices directly from China. I wanted to examine each of the packaging first before making a large purchase. The main ingredient in both of the above is supposed to be "Hong Qu". I am just not sure about the dosage equivalent for these products and how they compare to say a 600 mg. tablet of Nature's Plus RYR.
Lord Taff, if you are out there you can chime in anytime. I will try and figure this out for anyone else interested.

Re: Zhibituo vs. Xuezhikang RYR

All well but how do you know how much statin each brand of RYR contains?
I personally use a brand sold in Canada under the name of cholesterol care manufactured by MTS laboratories. I contacted the company and even they couldn't tell me the exact amount of statin included in the RYR.
I am not bashing the product, I am taking it...I'm just trying to understand the mechanism and amount of statin included in the supplements.

Re: Zhibituo vs. Xuezhikang RYR

boubou;
Yes. S
Since both are Hong Qu, at a dose of 1.2 grams per day (2- 600 mg. caps) provides 13.5 mg. total monacolins, of which 10 mg. is monacolin-K.

7.2 milligrams monacolin-K of RYR has more potent lipid-lowering activity than 40 milligrams of the pharmaceutical form of Lovastatin without all the side effects.

Thank you so much for this info, I've been looking for this for a long time.
I'm actually taking 600mg per day now, hoping that this will be sufficient.

Re: Zhibituo vs. Xuezhikang RYR

The Mayor,

I am thinking of getting RYR from China as you did. Do you have any advise or thoughts on the chinese RYR products yet? <removed> Thanks.
