Post Ear infections/glue ear in children

A natural substance, xylitol, has been shown in double blind clinical trials to prevent about half of all ear infections in children. You can get xylitol in health food stores as a sugar supplement or buy nasal sprays with it in. When it doesn't stop the infection it appears, although this is only anecdotal, to reduce the severity so that antibiotics are less likely to be necessary.
