reglan weird side effect

This is too weird to even want to ask. I recently started taking Reglan for GERD. I took it for several days with no side effects, THEN I spent 2 nights wetting the bed. So I stopped. My doc told me no way- to go back on that it couldn't be that. So I tried again, again, I thought I peed the bed while asleep. Quit taking it- never had the problem again. I'm 40 years old, never had the problem before. I've gone almost a year since the last Reglan episode. I started having chest pain 3 weeks ago. Feels heavy when I breathe, feels like bronchitis but no infection. Anyway, I take Nexium twice a day. They asked me to try the Reglan again. I have taken it for a week and no problems. Until last night, last night I thought I had wet the bed. I had to get up and change. Went back to bed, then this morning when I went was waking up I had a little gas, IT wasn't gas, it was water. I'm sure this whole time the fluid had been coming from there instead of it being pee. Has anyone had this problem??????

Re: reglan weird side effect

I only took one pill once so didn't have that side effect. Are you maybe drinking alot of water with the medication and over loading your bladder?

Re: reglan weird side effect

I wouldn't discount anything as an effect of Reglan. I do believe the bladder is ALSO connected to the autonomic nervous system (ANS), so it could be affected by anything affecting that system/GI system.

Reglan works on the ANS, so don't put anything past it as far as causing problems.

It gave me severe heart palpitations and racing heart the week after I started it at minimum normal dosage. The heart rate/skipping is also controlled by the ANS (directly from the vagus nerve).

I'd insist that it probably IS the Reglan. Go to another doctor, and stop the med's in the meantime unless you're so badly off GI-wise you can't handle it.

Re: reglan weird side effect

I never wet the bed but I did have nightmares while taking Nexium. I'm on Protonix now and have no problems. My doctor never would agree that it was the Nexium causing the nightmares but my pharmacist did.

Re: reglan weird side effect

I really appreciate alllllll of your replies. It is the craziest thing. I didn't take it last night. As you said, it has got to be the reglan. It just has to. And, I can survive without taking it. What about Nexium? Has anyone gained weight with Nexium? I gained about 20 pounds when I first started taking it. Then another 10 when they upped my dose to two a day. Is that just a coincidence?

AGAIN, thank you for your help.
