Doc wants to cut dosage in half.... worried....

Had a TT back in August and started out with 150 mcg of levo, started seeing endo in December and she prescribed 150 mcg of unithroid as she was concerned about the pharmacy switching brands on me. I was feeling fine on the levo but agreed to try the unithroid. Have been on the unithroid for about 2 months now and just had labs done last week. Doc called my home today and left a message to let me know that my labs are "all over the place" and she would like me to cut back to half of my pill each day. I was unable to reach her to get my lab report as their office is already closed for the day but I'm really concerned about this. I can see cutting back to 125 mcg or maybe even 100 mcg but 75??? Is this normal?

That does sound like a large decrease! I would definitely talk to her tomorrow and find out what those labs were. And I agree that lowering to 125 or 100 would be a gradual stepdown, if it's even needed. How have you been feeling?

I have been feeling just fine... occasionally, a little speedy at times, but otherwise, good. I can understand a dose increase to 125 but I'm not comfortable with cutting my dose in half at all.

I have been having trouble losing weight that I gained after my surgery and I'm wondering if the high dose of medication could be the cause but I thought that would make me lose weight if anything. I'm so confused by all of this.

I'm not even comfortable with this endo. She wouldn't even order all the tests that I see everyone else on here getting so I had to circle them myself when I had my labs done last week. I'm thinking it's time to find a new doctor altogether.

Re: Doc wants to cut dosage in half.... worried....

Got my lab report... can anyone help me with this? I'm planning on seeing a new endo but I thought I'd get some input here first.

T3, Total 143 (ref range 60-181)
T3, Uptake 38 (ref range 22-35)
T4, Free 1.9 (ref range 0.8-1.8)
T4, Total 11.5 (ref range 4.5-12.5)
Free T4 Index 4.4 (ref range 1.4-3.8)
T3, Free 363 (ref range 230-420)
TSH 0.16

These numbers seem all out of whack to me so any input is appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

your Free T4 is too high you need to cut back on your meds.
I would ask my doctor if I can cut back to 125mcg.
