Nausea & Vomiting

What does everyone take for nausea and vomiting? I have been having the nausea for awhile but starting vomiting last week. I can't take Phenergan becuase it makes me super tired and sleepy. Any suggestions?

Re: Nausea & Vomiting

Brian,
What is your chemo regimen? How often? What type?

Back when I was treated with carboplatin and taxol, I was given intravenous Zofran BEFORE my chemo infusion. Then I was given and oral form (not sure if it was Zofran, but something similar) and told to take one pill each morning for 3 days. It worked great...the iv infusion of zofran prevented the nausea from even starting up, and the pills kept it at bay for the next three days that the chemo would have been upsetting my stomach.

I'm sure there are probably some newer medications that should work well, but the key is prevention...it is far easier to treat the nausea before it starts, than to get it under control once it has started.
