Unhappy Swollen Feet?

Hi all. I haven't posted for awhile because I have had a major case of flu. But thats not the big problem now. My feet are swollen. They are so big that you can't even tell I have an ankle bones and my toes look like little sausages. Has anyone else had this and could it be related to my back and neck issues? I am going to the Gp tomorrow. This is really scaring me, not to mention it is very uncomfortable. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Dee

Re: Swollen Feet?

Dee, sorry you're having yet another issue. Sometimes it seems like it never ends, doesnt it? I think you probably should have that looked at as soon as possible, good thing you have an appt. tomorrow! I don't know much about what can cause it, but I do know heart problems and differnt kinds of arthritis can cause swelling. I have had severe ankle swelling, but it never went into my toes. Mine was caused by arthritis and PTTd, which has caused extensive tearing of my tendons. And to think I suffered from this on & off for over 18 years and just got diagnosed last spring. One other thing I read about was that psoriatic arthritis could cause ones toes or fingers to swell and look like sausages. I have no idea if your flu could be causing something to swell, though. Keep an eye on it, if it gets alot worse or you get some other kind of symptoms, or it starts swellign up your leg, then maybe you should go to the ER. WHatever it is, I do hope it goes away soon!

Re: Swollen Feet?

Yep this is a never-ending cycle for me. It seems like all I ever do is go to the doctor the pharmacy and grocery store. I am just about near tears right now. I will get through this but I sure am tired of all these issues.

Re: Swollen Feet?

I'm sorry, Dee, it can get very depressing. That sounds like my usual agenda as well, though I try not to think about it. Since my injections wore off, the pain from my back problems is worsening again; I've got alot of joint & muscle stiffness (like when I wake up in the morning or after I sit too long); I've got muscle spasms and cramps all over again, the Soma isnt working to well on that though. They are spreading all over my body again including in my face and throat area, tho the face ones arent really painful. I just feel and see the pulling. I've gotten a bunch awful migraines with headaches lately, though I got some samples of Imitrex, which worked great. So I got a new script for it yesterday (talk about sticker shock!!! glad I still have Cobra) And i'm feeling some vague nerve pains on my right side now in my ankle, and getting cramp-like pains not only in my rear and backs of legs, but now it's going down the fronts of my thighs. These leg cramps are only happening when I stand or walk so Im getting limited again, which is a bit of a downer.
So I just wanted to share that I am also having issues of worsening & more symptoms, and you are not alone. You will get through it because you've probably gotten through it before. I know I've gotten through somehow before my surgery. And am I coping now as well. I try to block the negative thoughts and pay more attention to things I still can do. Since my surgery, when co-workers gave me a gift basket of puzzles & books, I am now addicted to Sudoku!! That keeps my mind occupied alot. I do hope you can find the strenght to get through this and also find out what is causing your foot swelling. Let us know what your doc thinks after your appt. and try to stay hopeful.

Re: Swollen Feet?

Dee, I am so sorry to hear about the "new" pain(s)...It sounds serious! I don't mean to scare you again (I think of myself as a scary person, now), but it doesn't sound good. I pray that it is just something that can be easily taken care of. I agree with "Bay" about the possibilities of some type(s) of arthritis or heart issues (which I pray it isn't)! Thankfully, you see your gp tomorrow, and hopefully he can diagnose your problem(s). I also agree with "Bay" that if it worsens or you develop new symptoms...please go to the ER! Please keep us updated!
