Red face Need advice for fissures 6 weeks after Hemorrhoidectomy!!

I had 3 internal hemroids removed with ligasure device 6 weeks ago and have had continual bleeding and pain with bowel movements. Now I am told I have 2 fissures, not sure when they occurred because there has never been any relief from the pain and bleeding in the past 6 weeks.

I am very scared this will never go away without surgery. Have been trying annointment for 2 weeks now to help with pressure/pain but I am still having a lot of bleeding.

I have been taking metamucil and miralax (when needed) faithfully since the original surgery.

I am currently looking for a specialist with knowledge on treating with Botox. Does this work? Are there better options?

Help...I would like to hear from someone with any experience with this. Thanks.

Sounds like you need to get in with the specialist or general surgeon asap. If the fissure gets worse - you will need surgery asap due to the pain which is totally different than the hemorrhoids.

Unfortunately, sometimes, the ligasure doesn't work. A close friend of mine started out with the same problem you did and had the ligasure - she had the same problems after surgery so they ended up having to do the old-fashion surgery. She was in pain about 2 weeks but had heavy pain meds, but had no more symptoms after that. I would get in as soon as possible so you can hopefully stop suffering. I know it's embarrassing but will only get worse. You also may want to just f/u with your first surgeon right now.

Hope you get to feeling better.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a call into the specialist office, will definitely try to get in ASAP. My original surgeon has recommended I see someone else so I will be more comfortable with any new decisions since this didn't go as planned.

It is good to hear from others who have knowledge of this problem.

thanks..

Heya! Let us know what your doc says......I too have a small fissure or two about 10 weeks post op. My doc cauterized one of them two weeks ago (which took care of the pain almost immediately), but it is acting up again. My next appointment is Monday, thank god.

There is no blood, just a flash of searing pain when I go potty that is over rather quickly. Compared to how i felt ten weeks ago, it's a cakewalk.

Hi Happybottom,

Love the name!

Good to hear from you. I definitely have less pain than 6 weeks ago, but am worried it is becoming a chronic issure. Still seems like a lot of bleeding and pain, very discouraging, also a very tight feeling all over pelvic region. Maybe it is not unusual if you are also experiencing it at 10 weeks. Hope your Dr's visit is helpful, please let me know how it goes.

I tried to get ahold of Dr's Friday but they were closed because of good Friday. Guess I need a referral and have to be approved as a patient to get into a very well known clinic, that is my goal next week. Not sure what I'll do if they don't accept me. I do have a referral to another specialist but they do not do the botox injections there.

Take care...
